This traditional costume is typically worn by students from their second year of dance through age twelve. It is very reasonably priced and can sometimes be purchased gently used. White Irish dance "poodle" socks and gold headbands are worn by all students. The Buckley School assists you in the purchase and resale of your costume.
At the most advanced level, female students wear a black velvet dress with black tights and the gold headband. It can sometimes be purchased gently used. The Buckley School assists you in the purchase of your costume.
With regard to footwear, female students wear black Irish lace up shoes. However, new students do not need to purchase shoes prior to the first class. Ghillies are available for purchase through the school. We have most sizes in stock as our inventory is updated weekly.
Male Soft Shoes
Male students wear black Jazz shoes. However, new students do not need to purchase shoes prior to the first class.
For more advanced dancers, "hard shoes" are also available for purchase through the school. They are generally available the week after they are ordered. Sometimes, these shoes are available for purchase second hand. Please note that hard shoes should never be purchased until you are told they are necessary.
